Case study

Case study: moving this site off WordPress

Before we sell a migration, we ran one on ourselves. illuminaresolutions.com moved from a page-builder WordPress site to Astro and EmDash on Cloudflare, with every URL kept and the plugin features rebuilt.

Ask about your site

The starting point

The site ran on WordPress with the Kadence theme and Kadence Blocks for layout, Fluent Forms for the contact form and a scored assessment, Fluent Booking for meetings, and Fluent Support for a client portal. It had 8 pages and 2 posts, a rotating logo strip, popups, and a downloadable checklist sent by email.

What moved

Content

Every page and post was read through WordPress's public API, cleaned of page-builder markup, and stored as structured content in EmDash.

URLs

All 12 addresses in the WordPress sitemap answer on the new site: 11 at the same path, and the author archive through a permanent redirect.

Layout

The page builder's rows and cards became a layout that follows the headings in the content, so editors change text, not layout settings.

What was rebuilt without plugins

Forms

Contact and checklist forms with spam protection, stored submissions and email notification, plus an optional push to the CRM.

The scored assessment

The multi-step growth assessment, scored on the server, showing a result and the next step that fits the score.

Booking

A time picker with the same availability rules as before; booking a time sends a calendar invitation to both sides.

What it shows for your project

A page-builder site with forms, booking and popups is the harder kind of migration, because the plugins do real work. Each of those features now runs without WordPress, and the same building blocks are reused on client sites.
